How Does the Witcher Know to Go Back to the Manor

The Witcher Season 2 landed on Netflix on Friday, December 17, delving deeper into Ciri's powers and what it means for The Continent.

Netflix's hit fantasy series featured many unexpected twists and turns in its finale, and also introduced Nilfgaardian Emperor Emhyr var Emreis, the White Flame.

Leaving many questions that need answering, here is everything you need to know after that explosive final episode.

What are Ciri's powers and what is she prophesized to do?

Season 2 of The Witcher was all about Princess Ciri (Freya Allan) and how she comes into her powers that were first unleashed in Season 1.

Ciri's abilities made her a target of Nilfgaard, but the Season 2 finale also saw the Voleith Meir (Deathless Mother in Elvish) possess her in order to create chaos and unleash new monsters on The Continent.

The princess is in possession of Elder Blood, meaning she is related to the elves and has access to her own magic.

As was first seen in Season 1, her abilities include a primal scream that can topple monoliths, the giant structures that link The Continent to other Spheres, and this power is exploited by the Deathless Mother in the Season 2 finale.

Taking control of her body and leaving Ciri in a fantasy world in which she is with her deceased family and loved ones, the Voleith Meir releases a number of new monsters on Kaer Morhern to kill the Witchers.

Thankfully, through Geralt's (Henry Cavill) guidance and Yennefer (Anya Chalotra) allowing herself to become a vessel for the creature, Ciri is able to free herself from the Deathless Mother's grasp, and sends her back to the world she came from.

Ciri does this by portalling herself, Geralt and Yennefer to another Sphere where they come across the Wild Hunt, who tell Ciri to join them and name her the "starry-eyed daughter of chaos" who is "theirs".

This is not the only time her Elder Blood came into play in the finale, as elven queen Francesca Findabair (Mecia Simson) learned of it and told her people that Ciri's bloodline means she is prophesized to save the elves.

What is The Wild Hunt?

The Wild Hunt first appear earlier in Season 2, where they are shown briefly when Ciri is having a vision while trying to learn more about her Elder Blood.

Those in The Continent believe The Wild Hunt are a group of spectres that gallop across the sky and are an omen of war, but in actual fact they are Aen Elle elves.

Also known as the Wraiths of Mörhogg, the horde are focused on invading other worlds through the Gate of the Worlds to ensnare slaves.

In the novels, and similarly in the show, The Wild Hunt become interested in Ciri for her powers and ancient bloodline, which they wish to possess.

Who is Emperor Emhyr var Emreis, the White Flame?

The Witcher Season 2's finale ended with the introduction of Emperor Emhyr var Emreis, the White Flame, the ruler of Nilfgaard who has been spoken of but never seen prior to that moment.

In a huge twist, it was revealed that Emhyr (Bart Edwards) is in fact Ciri's father who had previously been presumed dead alongside the girl's mother Pavetta (Gaia Mondadori).

Season 1 saw Geralt help Ciri's mother and father break a curse he was put under which made him look like a beast.

At the time he was referred to as Duny, Urcheon of Erlenwald, but Season 2 revealed that he is in fact the leader of Nilfgaard.

This explains why the Empire are so determined to find Ciri and were already aware of her abilities before even she was.

An aggressive ruler in the novels, Emhyr wages war against the Northern Kingdoms and later became the King of Cintra as well as Emperor of Nilfgaard.

In the Season 2 finale, the character's cruel streak shines through as he demands Fringilla (Mimi Ndiweni) and Cahir (Eamon Farren) be taken away after believing they would no longer be able to help his mission for Nilfgaard.
